For the full list of Invalid warnings – Read this KB

Invalid data entry: Account Name

tax
  1. Data Entry
  2. Overpayments & Repayment Claim
  3. Bank Details and Payment To Person TAB  – it requires a entry if its blank, so enter the details for ‘name of account’
  4. Click ‘Bank details’ – find a existing entry and select it or click NEW to create a entry (CT600: shows in box 935 )
  5. If there is already a name in there – Delete it, save and close it. Then go back in and add it back in
  6. OK to save and regenerate the Return.

Invalid data entry: Line (this may show as a line for SA800 or SA100)

Tax
  1. This is normally linked to an address entry so go to ‘Set up’
  2. Practice options
  3. Locate the exact name on the warning – either shorten the address AND remove special characters. HMRC has character limitation when submitting online. Note that only some tax programs like BT is affected by this limit on characters for address. If you want to show the full address – go to Edit/ Notes and add the full address. Save and regenerate the Return.
  4. If 3) is correct then you need to check EVERY address entries made – for example: Go to Repayment Claim. For entries in Nominee name, Town/City and Country – Check for length of entries and also SPACES as there could be a ‘space’ after the last letter (you cannot see the space). Please remove the ‘spaces’ on all the lines (either by checking each entry OR deleting the whole line, and typing it back in – also do not copy and paste) and once this has been done, regenerate the electronic tax return and transmit the return.
